There is a plan by Pendle Council to declassify the former High Ropes Centre on Vivary Way in Colne as “Leisure Land”. This allows the land to be sold for commercial use, this is likely to be a car park.
The Colne Wheelpark Initiative opposes this plan, with a proposal for an alternative sports orientated facility. This is also along side the Colne Leisure Centre, so keeping this land for sport and recreation makes a lot of sense.
The ColneWheel Park Initiative believes the best use of this land for the town of Colne would be to create a Multi Wheeled Park (Skateboarding, skating, BMX Biking). There are already plans for funding the Wheelpark.
The meeting at Pendle Council is thought to be on the 25th May 2017 at Nelson Town Hall where the land de-classification is to be proposed, cyclists are encouraged to attend and speak against it.
