12th December 2016 – work starts

Work is starting on the beginners pump track inside the velodrome bit of the cycle hub on Monday and as such during the working day the velodrome bit of the track will need to be coned off and access not allowed.

Cyclists will still be able to use two thirds of the circuit.

The contractors will tidy up after each day’s work and remove the cones if it is okay for the velodrome area to be used (which it should be).  So nightly use for casual and organised use should not be affected.

The work is expected to take around 2 weeks to complete.

The Background

This short stretch of track has been possible via funding made available by the East Lancashire Health commissioning group and the generosity of Carillion PLC and Settle quarries who have supplied the base stone free of charge. The funding also covered the purchase of 10 x BMX bikes and approx 10 coaching courses for Cycle Sport Pendle volunteers. This will ensure off road and BMX session delivery can commence and in readiness for the larger Pump track at the SB hub when funding is secured.
